Ninety doctors serving in Dubai have been granted a 10-year golden card residency as part of the move to honor the frontline workers for their valiant resilience and hard work during the pandemic. The award is recognition of the untiring efforts made by these healthcare professionals to treat young patients when the pandemic swept across the world.

These medics had been serving at Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital. They dispensed their duties professionally and honestly during challenging and uncertain times when the pandemic had baffled experts, and hopelessness had prevailed.
The long-term visas had been introduced by the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid, in May last year under a scheme named golden card.

Dr. Abdulla Al Khayat, who serves as the hospital’s chief executive, informed that the move was not merely an ‘appreciation’ of the doctors but for all team members at the hospital. He noted that the generous gesture demonstrated was a source of ‘motivation.’ He added that this move would serve to encourage health care professionals to render the highest level of medical care to young patients and families.

Back in May, 212 medics were rewarded in the same manner for their efforts during the pandemic. Another 6800 investors and residents from as many as 70 countries had been chosen to be given the visa last year. The hospital was opened in 2016 with a 200-bed capacity and has treated hundreds of children and adolescents. At times, those below the age of 18 were also treated for complex medical conditions.
